I wonder if that includes "ALL" of various Corolla Variants? Such as the Corolla Verso in Europe, the Corolla Matrix in North America, the Corolla Fielder etc...

One would assume so since the next gen Corolla is out in most of the world including the homemarket.

my guess would be these numbers are only Corollas, not Matrix,or Verso or Auris,Fielder is probably included. It's only a guess but its based on Matrix numbers being separate in NA.Does anyone have more expertise?

the matrix is part of the corolla family and is counted as such even in america. according to the article, corolla production will increase here too.

It would be nice but it would eat sales of the Yaris and possibly the Prius, referring to the fact if Toyota brought a diesel Corolla over here. Actually it could eat into Camry hybrid sales. So I think that kind of Corolla is not going to happen. I think when gas prices get higher then there might be more justification to bring over more models or just make a hybrid Corolla

i don't know if you heard this or not, but some toyota officials believe the corolla will eventually outsell the camry, possibly this upcoming generation. that's why i wondered if they would bring over more corolla models. the hybrid sounds good, it would probably get better mileage than the prius and be cheaper to boot.

Yeah I heard that as well. And obviously like other new Corolla generations it moves up market with more goodies so this one will be pretty refined Corolla considering the stiff competition out there. I would go so far to say as far as the CAR segement goes the premium compact segement is the second biggest in NA after mid-sized segement.

The Verso would also cut into RAV4 sales. We will get a Tundra diesel first, then Tacoma,Highlander and RAV4.Once Honda brings the diesel Pilot Toyota will have no choice. We might have to wait for a redisign on the Verso before it passes US crash tests, but with the crossover segment growing so fast they will have to bring it eventually. You may be right about the cars going hybrid long before they go diesel.Toyota has invested alot into hybrid marketing, but the competition is going diesel big time(Honda,BMW,and eventually Hyundai)

I thought Honda was bringing a diesel Odyssey not a Pilot??

Which means we need our Sienna HSD =P.

A Corolla hybrid would be awesome.

They have to since the HAH failed miserably.
