I find it funny that they post UK photos and ask the reader to mentally picture the wheel on the other side. Can't you just get Canadian pics?

I never understood why they gave youthful adventurous Scion the 5-door subcompact and gave solid, conservative Toyota the 3-door. It seemed backwards.

I don't know why Toyota USA didn't release it sooner since they're not at all different other than one has 2 big doors and the other 4 smaller doors. The 5-door is also far more better equipped, its got whatever a 3-door LE has. As a Fit competitor, the Yaris is great since it is the more economical of the two but doesn't lose much of the city car fun, Honda has the slight edge on fun and interior just not the price and fuel economy. The 5-door Yaris is one of my favourite cars to drive at work, no doubt about it.

Jeagan, if you noticed, the xA was the small 5 door hatch for all of toyota US market.. If they released it here in the US, the 5 door Yaris would be a direct competitor for the xA. Now that the xA has been upgraded to the bigger xD, there is room for a 5door Yaris Hatch.

So you say Canada has had it? AH HAH!...they don't have Scions.

I thought the xA was out by 2006 or was it still alive and well a bit after? It just seems odd to me to introduce a 5-door Yaris for 2009 when it could have been done even the beginning of this year since it seems to not directly compete with the xD.

It's about time! When the two variants of the Yaris 4-door and 3-door came out I was wondering why all the other countries got a 5 door hatch. Especially living in the US cars with more than 3 doors are a must. I thought it was ridiculous selling the 3-door for the U.S., but I was wrong because I see a lot of those as the effect of high gas prices.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw the new xD at the LA AutoFair last November 07. It was just a matter of time.

When are they gonna get rid of that center gauge cluster? That would be the only reason why I would never own one.
