With full info coming next week at the Detroit Auto Show, Lexus has announced preliminary details on the redesigned IS luxury sports sedan. AutoGuide has also been given a special sneak-peek at the car before it’s official reveal.
DESIGN BLOOD-LINE
Like other models in the Lexus lineup, the 2014 IS has adopted the brand’s signature design element, its so-called “spindle grille.” Shown here on the IS350 F-Sport model, the grille is a single-frame, hour glass-shaped flourish, uninterrupted by a bumper line. Already a prominent part of the GS and LS sedans, it’s now migrating down to the smaller IS, and looks nearly identical to that found on the LF-CC Concept.
Aside from that unique – and very prominent grille – the car’s face also features unusual headlamp assemblies that are very sculptural; they’re almost 3-D in the way they’ve been contoured and shaped. Another stand-out part of the design are the separate L-shaped LED daytime-running lamps.
The front fenders are powerfully flared, making the car seem wider than it is. The character lines on top of these panels carry along the bodyside, terminating in the decklid at the back.
There are other interesting design elements as well, especially the twisting shape of the rocker panels. The high lines starting in these moldings sweep up near the rear of the car, neatly meeting up with the pointed taillamps.

Lexus is serious about dominating the C-segment luxury.
The interior is just stunning. The exterior looks so original and fresh. Nothing out there looks like this car. Also, I think people will go crazy when they see those LFA gauges available on a mass produced car and would want to buy it.
Now bring on the IS-F.

a few of us are stuck on the fence on the styling...i really like the current IS in F Sport trim, and obviously the ISF. I guess we'll just acclimate to it sooner or later. We all knew that the interior was going to be nice. Like the red a lot (my folks have a saddle interior 2013 RX).
I'll be honest, IDK if this has any chance to outsell the BMW. All they needed to improve was their driving dynamics a bit further, but no, they had to PREDATOR the front end, and it makes the GS look like a beauty. OTOH, the folks that worked on the interior did a great job.
I like it tho i'm not sold on the interior dash my mom's look's cheap on her 2012 Is350 but the new model look's pretty bad. Not sold on the Navigation control click button on the center pod like other Lexus models either they need to put that on the steering wheel vs the center part of the car.Overall Like the exterior design tho it seems more like a refresh vs an all New Car.
