me and two buddies went around looking at cars today, and when we finally got to toyota, i knew what car i wanted to look at and mabye test drive: the corolla xrs. i got in there and the lady and the front desk asks us if we need anything and i said i was looking for information on the corolla xrs. she looks over at a salesman sitting nearby and he says they don't have one and that there's basically no info out there for them to the dealerships other than it has the 2zz and it's gonna be around $18-19k. other than that, they said they're not gonna stock any and that they're only gonna come in when they're ordered by someone.
after all the commercials i've seen on tv, i figured they'd be out in dealerships by now. anyone here work at a dealership and know when they're supposed to start coming in? have they started taking orders yet?

I have a lot of those on the lots and a lot of people are buying them. I drove it 2 times and loved every bit of it. It is a sweet car and hitting the lift is a bash. I am trading my 04 Corolla S for an XRS soon.
wow, now i REALLY want to test drive one. i figured they'd be pretty bad ass. everyone is gonna think you're some kind of dork driving a corolla and then you smoke their (insert ricer car name here).
it doesn't need to be awd, just rwd. i mean, aren't there other cars out there that have less power and are rwd?

That is what makes it so fun, but it sounds nothing like a Corolla. It has a sweet sports motorbike like sound especially at 8000 (Toyota built the 2zz engine in collaboration with Yamaha Motorcycles co.) RPM that gives it away it is not your regular-joe Corolla. I have read some guy who smoked a prelude with the Corolla XRS and the Prelude guy could not get over it.
oh man - I love this car - i just picked it up tonight I have to try so hard not to take it up the hot cam! it's the motor has 3 definate zones - 0-4 is meh 4-6500 is sporty 6500 on up is nutz.
my only complaint so far is that they did NOT match the lights inside - it has the electrolumenescent (OPTITRON in toyota speak) gages which are fine but its got like a 1980 quartz clock in green and all the lights to the right (for the radio et.al.) are green it looks really messed up like they just threw it all toghether and never bothered to try it at night. that and the back seat does not fold down...
