Unhappy Goodbye to MRS and Cellica?

"unlike its major competitors, just about all of whom are embarking on crash programs to introduce new models, Toyota mostly moves along undramatically with what it has, all the while racking up record sales and profits and passing Ford to take the no. 2 ranking in the auto business. This year, Toyota stays the cource once again: Its car line carries over with minor changes. A small exception is the addition of a sporty XRS trim and hardware package to the Corolla line that includes a 170-hp four-banger engine. Get ready to say goodbye to the Cellica and MR2 Spyder, as they will be gone after 2005.

Unchanged: Avalon, Camry, Camry Solara, Matrix, Echo, Prius

Future: The third-generation Avalon rolls into showrooms next year with a fastback-sedan look and a 3.5-liter V6 cranking out a reported 270 horsepower."

as seen in October 2004 issue of Car and Driver
