Toyota Launch New F1 Car - TF105

Toyota was the first team to launch their 2005 F1 car car today. Nothing too radical from the pictures. It's the first car designed under Mike Gascoyne, former Renault technical director.

We were directly behind the section where he crashed at Indy, It happened so fast it was over quickly. I was quite worried about him sitting in the front straight, at the speed they travel it could have been horrific. The amount of debris was incredible. He will kick some butt upon returning. Glad that he is o.k.

what's wrong with barge boards?

yeah, i was over near turn 3/4 at indy this year. couldn't really see what happened to ralf, but it was really scary there for a while. it was a relief to learn he was alright.

i think ralf and jarno will be a good team pairing. the only thing that worries me is consistency. jarno isn't too consistent over a race weekend (qualifying to race), while ralf isn't consistent from weekend to weekend. but i certainly think the team is moving forward (hehehe, toyota's new slogan here in the states... )

Hopefully Toyota can finish in the top 4 in the manufactrue's standing this year. I hope Ralf or Trulli can get some podium finishes. I read somewhere that if Toyota doesn't show improvement on the poduim they might yank there team from F1

It's never been the drivers who are incapable of giving them the results; it's the cars that were a piece of shit. The TF104 was MILES behind everyone else last season.

Salo and McNish weren't slow. Salo was awesome in 99 when he filled in for MS after the latter broke his legs. One look at McNish's achievements at Audi and you can see he has plenty of speed.

CDM isn't that bad of a driver. 03 Silverstone proofed that point at least for parts of the race. You dont' win a top tier open wheel racing series if u'r slow and he WAS a CART champ before jumping over to F1.

I somehow think their failure is caused more by administrative side than it is the actual drivers. 8 million bucks to hire Gazza isn't exactly chump change and he ISN'T even close to the leagues of Ross Brawn who earns only HALF of what Mike's charging toyota.

well, more bad news for toyota's f1 team unfortunately. seems the car likes to eat up the rear tires rather quickly...

http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=32023

the good news is that lots of teams are having trouble coping with the new regulations. bar honda has already admitted a lack of downforce and the hondas keep blowing up before two race distances (engines must last for two weekends under the 2005 rules.). sauber has also said their having some trouble with their new chassis.

luckily, mclaren is back on form. renault also looks good, and of course ferrari will still be up there. should be a good season.

how are they not letting em play?

I think these new rules are great. More constraints for the engineers to work under and STILL make the car go as fast as late 03, early 04 season would be an AWESOME engineering feat.

The current third edition of the TF105 is quite different with the wings in front of the side intakes.

With Trulli on P2 it starts well in Melbourne. Can't say the same for the Schumacher brothers. Are anyone else gonna see the race in couple of hours?
