USA Section for the Newbs!

Not all of us that have been using the forum always need help as some of the members are here more to help rather than being helped. I know that even when i first joined, i didn't really know the site well enough to navigate and know what was where <until i started to look around for an hour or two>. So the first thing i did was post up a question that had already been covered a billion times and over. Boy did i get flamed. I'm pretty sure that even though there is a search button flashing like crazy, that some noobs just completely miss it or don't bother.

My suggestion is that once a member signs up, they should be able to see CLEARLY a section that states that noobs should check out a certain section to get all the answers to their basic questions such as where can i get this or that?, what rims can i get?, what tires?, etc., etc., etc.

I'm not saying lets have every topic posted for them, but just the basic ones. And I'm pretty sure if we all work together than we can come up with atleast 20 or more basic things for noobs to look at and start off with. We can even put our user name within each topic that we know how to do so that if a noob has anymore questions that need to be answered, they can PM one of the members.

What do you guys think?

We need a page that is a mandatory read before they can start posting.

Maybe have a test at the end too

If u fail, Razo and phi come to your house and they "punish" you.

I'll bet some people will fail on purpose.

Yes, but the problem is that nobody reads them.

Just like the search button.

well, what if right after they join and sign up, another screen pops up with all the sticky's and other things that they might want to know. This will either force them to read through and then move on, or close the screen and ask the same question that would have been covered already and get flamed.

I'm just saying, it's alright to ask certain questions on the board if you're not sure of something within in the process or something like that, but when people ask general questions over and over and over again, it's kinda like road kill for us to have to answer over and over again. Although sticky's help, not alot of people click on them anyway.

^ Good idea. I'll look into making a screen explaining to new users what to read, with relevant links when they signup.

Yeah, I don't really think the newbie forum would be such a good idea because no one will read it, and also I don't know about you guys but when I read some of those questions I learn a few new things even if it's a dumb question.

How about. We make a thread. Which asks all the newb questions. Then everyone on the board flames him. We then make new members read that thread.

I'd like to this be the first thing newbs see after they register.

Everyone should watch this before posting.

Actually, there are only about 3-4 forums w/ a FAQ sticky.

I propose we get mods for each forum (Truck, scion, Minivan, etc) Or we all put together a list of just basic FAQ. Such as stock offset and all that. Just the stuff that is in Ultimate Camry FAQ. Put one together for each forum would be a good investment.
