Would it be possible to implement an internal web search by google, mainly for use in the archives, as well as in the main forums?
If it was at the top of the page, next to the navbar, i think that would encourage people to search before they post, because it is much more conveniant(sp). I am asking this, mainly because i want to find a few things in the archives and dont want to have to spend half the day scouring through 100+ pages.

No, no no. He wants the search button to be a google search thru the TN archieves.
Not search google.
I don't think that will work because google works by ppl who link the site which they think is popularity. The more links, the higher on the google search it will be because it is believed that, that is best info since so many ppl link it.
www.google.com type toyotanation before anything else in the bar.

Also would having the search button flash faster maybe make more ppl see it?

if the results are too large, you simply add more keywords or select which forum should be searched. I have been able to limit my searches down to 3 or 4 threads almost every time.
Do you really think Google will get more specific then the options we have currently in our search?
We have a great search engine, the Admins perfected it the first time
And was it that hard to type "google.com" in the browser before hand?

Strange. I've only been able to limit my searches down to like 5 pages.
But i think if it blinked faster, it'd grab attention easier. It'd just get annoying after you've been on the boards for a while. It'd just get annoying for the long time members.

#1, we'll make it blink faster, but we're not responsible for optical seizures.
#2, i'll see what i can do for an internal search option, but like SmokingTires said, the TN Search is by far the most precise. Theres no way the (internal) google search will even come close to it.
With the new google search, could you maybe make the tool bar that's now on the left a little larger? I think it will look better proportion-wise and not let that damn google bar rule this site

Do not act on this right away. I have a feeling this may get shot down but who knows?
How does moving the 2 searches closer to each other sound?
The google can attract attention and as ur looking at that, you'll see flashing which makes you notice the Search Button.
The term would be negative space. There needs to be space around everything in order for it to look like it fits. Having them close together would cramp one side or the other.
I think the google search should go at the bottom with the google ads
