when I tried to make an all 86 meet I got bashed for trying to split up the nation. I just wanted as many 86es in one spot as possible. (like all the Matrixes) I don't think we're trying to seclude ourselves, having a seperate 86 section would just be convenient. I support it.

Then to be fair you'd have to give a section to every other model of the Rolla. And then every model of the Camry, and so on. The Matrix is a whole different car model. Just like there are Camry meets.. The AE86 will always be a Rolla.

When looking for engine related stuff it is nice to have it all together .... but when looking for suspention and drive-train stuff .... it becomes anoying reading the post and like a dosen posts down .... you find out that they have been talking about a 1995 Corolla all those posts.

Well of course if you Poll the AE86 owners only, they will want there own section. Who wouldn't? I know I would love a Gen 3 Camry section.
Why can't you just live with it like everyone else does?
My Camry doesn't have the same drive train as a Gen 2 All-Trac, or as the Gen 5 Camry, but we're still in the same section. How can you look through a whole thread (even read the first post) and not know what model car it is about????

Other car forums have it set up like that and there is no problems there.
Can we set up a poll where AE86 owners vote on this idea ?
Because i find myself reading through a lot of irrelavant stuff when i want to find something.
I have a TE72 Corolla, which was the predecessor of the AE86.
AE86 suspension originated from the TE72.
Almost all of the suspension is interchangeable.
There is really nothing IMO that makes the AE86 unique for it to justify it's own sub-forum.
Just because it's the most popular drift car doesn't justify anything.
The origin of the engine is from the 1983 Corolla, which was the first 4A type engine (4A-C) in the last TE7* body; hence AE72.
The bolt circle is the same as in all the earlier RWD models before it.
So if the AE86 deserves it's own sub-forum, then the same should apply to the TE72, TE51, TE37, TE27 and so on....

The Matrix is it's own model and there's only 1 generation of it right now.
If Toyota continues with later generations of Matrix models, they would likely remain in the same forum, just like the Camry forum is now.
If TN decides on giving the AE86 Corollas their own sub-forum, then I'm going to request the same for the Gen2 Camry and (maybe) the TE7* Corollas then.
