I've been noticing that you can't type m r 2oc.com as a web address anymore..... I'm assuming because it diverts people away from our forum.... but are there any other reasons? Is it okay to still link for sale ads and such?

Unfortunately, as you guys might have noticed, we get our fair share of spam on TN. And what we've noticed is that in some of the lesser traffic model-specific forums, a lot of new members tend to spam the URLs of other sites without attempting to answer the original poster's questions at all.
I have a lot of respect for users like "JekylandHyde" who DESPITE being a super moderator on MR2OC, still respects our board enough to take the time to answer people's questions thoroughly. That shows a lot of integrity and consideration on his part to not just take the easy way out and post a URL as if that was what the member was asking for.
.... I'm sorry. I've done that a few times. I don't think I've ever done it on a technical issue.... but for things like people looking for cars/parts to buy... or people looking for local mr2 people. I wouldn't consider myself a spammer.... if you look at my post count on here vs. my post count on MR2OC.... my TN count is about 4x what it is on mr2oc. I enjoy the people on here much more than the people on MR2OC personally.... most of my posts on there are for parts for sale or meets. Sorry to contribute to the problem
Quite frankly, I am very disappointed that TN has done this. Has TN become so big now that they have forgotten all the other forums where members have referred users to this site? Have you forgotten about all the sites that hold the Toyota Nation banner? Have promoted your meets?
One must understand that some specific models (such as the MR2) were not a high production car like the Corolla and Camry are. You will have forums that will just not have the traffic you are looking for. It is a known fact and by banning certain forums will not give your users the help they have come to expect from TN. Would you rather see a post give a link that will help the users or is it better to have the post go unanswered because no one has the answer?
The Toyota Community as far as I am concerned is a two way street. If TN wishes to continue alienating other forums and travel down a one way, well that is your choice. Just don't expect other forums or clubs to lend their support.

I kinda laughed at that. Funny how I send people over here alot. Then I hear that my URL is banned
That was quite funny really. I was asked to actually do the same for your URL. But why? A toyota Nation would not be a nation without Toyotas would it?
you guys can use www.mr2ownersclub.com if needed
I have about 50 more if you need them as well.

Ok, the filter has been removed.
I guess we we're a little too aggressive in our efforts to reduce spam. And I only call it spam, because although I respect all the established clubs like MR2OC, I don't like to make double-standards, so I just rationalized that a post with a link to www.newcarclub.com from Joe Blow with 1 post shoudn't be discriminated against more than our regular members who post a link to an established club like MR2OC for example.
Just for the record, I enjoy MR2OC very much and i wish it nothing but the best.
Please forgive me if I've offended any members or fellow board admins
