"Installation" Forum?

this is just a crazy idea i just had and was wonderin what yall thought about it - would anybody like to have a new forum just regarding Installation work, and including how-to's on model-specific installations and things like that.

Dont be afraid to tell me its a stupid idea, but i was thinking it'd be kinda neat.

P.S. Got a new system today - im excited! After waiting three weeks to get my amp repaired from MTX, i finally have bass again...I got the Polk DB212 loaded enclosure for 60% off so i sold my Type R's.

The problem is that, anything besides putting a new deck or a new speaker in an OEM location; is usually CUSTOM work.

Generic How-To's can go in the tech section. As can model specific. They can also go in the model specific forums. Stereo stuff is all good to stay in it's forum also.

Yeah. But I was talking about this a long time ago.

Some type of DIY forum.

They can go into the Tech section but I highly doubt people are going to look there. A how to forum would be pretty good since a lot of these DIY's don't get stickied.

I think it's a great idea to have a DIY Tutorial Forum, for example-

Cool

1) Everything has it's own section all ready.
2) No newbie / annoying person is going to read it, let alone search for anything anyways. They don't even read stickies. Why would they surf to the correct place to find something?

Good try tho!

Im not sure.

I was looking through MAzda626.net and searched to look for how to remove the O2 sensor. Their search function is hard to use so i just looked around the forum to see the How-To forum.

And There, I found some instructions w/ pics to remove the sensor.

But you have also been around long enough to not just post and ask questions like 99.9% of noobies will.

Most DIY's are posted in their rightful section. And there are only a few people who really write them up. I have done a number, so has Toysrme. However not many other people have.

Yeah, But they aren't stickied or anything.

I don't think I've ever seen one of your DIY's. I kinda stopped looking thru the Hardcore Tech Section, I think I'll start lurking there again tho.

Most ppl who first join will never ever see one of those DIYs. They are very hard to search up unless you know key words and such.

One of mine is linked in the Turbo stickie at the top, but I think the link might be bad.

I agree with Peter...it can be a sub-forum within the models. We do have some good stickies here, but for example yesterday i was trying to find a thread explaining how to put indiglo gauges in a 93 MR2. I searched extensively with no help, and also browsed the MR2 forum. Now maybe we dont even have a thread about that, but my point is it would be kinda nice to have a central location for Do-It-Yourselfs.

As stated above, if they were all Stickies it wouldnt matter, but theyre not

Then it just installs lazy-ness. It's too much effort to search now? I find old threads all the time that way. It's one of the easiest and most specific search features on any site I have been on. Is it that hard to click the little button and type in keywords that we want to make it easier?
