i've seen this on the Supra forums, and i figured it was a good idea to weed out the dumbasses from the people that know what they're doing...
basically, if someone makes a good post, you give them a good mark, and that appears under their avatar...
the better you do, the more points you have...
now, if all you do is bitch and whine, you can give a negative reputation point..
someone with alot of negative points should be avoided, or shit like that...
there's also neutral points...
also, when you give a point (whether it be negative, positive or neutral) you can leave a comment....
cliffnotes: if you're on ebay, you know how feed back works, think of this as that, but you dont have to buy/sell stuff; it'd be based on knowledge, helpfullness, etc...
what do you guys think..?
this is a screen pic of my actual rep status on SF..

I think it would be a good idea for sales.... similar to ebay's feedback (see MR2OC). I think it makes you feel a little better about buying things from people. But a general feedback of nice people and assholes could get a little out of hand. I'm sure there are people here that I think are dicks that other people think are great... everyone has their own opinions on personalities. That is what the block feature is for as well.
I think its a cool idea, but I also think its unneccesary. If you are a regular on this forum you know who knows their stuff and who doesnt know what they are talking about.
It can be a bad thing because people can get all competitive in trying to get the "high score", so they give people with higher scores negative feedback which they might not deserve.

I brought this up a few months ago. I think it'd be a nice feature for seller reputation. It'd make it better for both the seller and the buyer.
The only thing is, we would probably need to get a new mod or something to read somebody's "ticket" and decide whether or not they actually deserve to get docked points. I doubt Ratko and Ekam would have time to do it w/ all their other behind the scenes work of TN.
make it like ebay - for every rep point you give or take, you have to explain why.
Well thats hard to implement.
I think we should submit a "ticket" and it would be looked at by one of the mods. The mod will then determine whether or not your complaint or whatever is valid and will give the member + or -. But I think you should use colors. Like bad is red, good is blue.
you get a limited ammount of points you can give within a month, and if you use them up too quick, that's it, you cant use them until the next month....
also, you're limited in the ammounts of how quick you can do it, sorta like you can only do 1 search every 20 seconds, or post every 30 seconds..

That's just giving a "funky" name to the warning button we already have. You give someone wa warning, and the Mods decide to act on it if they want or not.
But that brings up another point. Even if two people got in a fight once and give eachother negative feedback, that doesn't mean that something they say in a tech thread is not valuable. However some noob may take it that way and not listen to the good advice they're giving.

I was talking about the buy/sell rep points function.
I wouldn't mind if we didn't have info reputation and I wouldn't be terribly sad if we had it.
