so i picked up a canon rebel xt the other day. i have no idea how to use it...so i decided to practice with it for the first time today (literally, the first time. i've been busy with school ).
anyway, nothing new but the hood dampers - which, btw, make a huge difference (imo). i think it looks much better with the dampers now.
enjoy.
edit: new pics...lol

if you put dslr's on their preset modes they will do an awesome job for you. you really cant screw up. and the manual modes will really shine if you use them right.

Your Gen 4 does not have dampers? My '00 and my neighbor's '01 has them. Maybe a Gen 4.5 change.
I have a point and shoot and I never use full auto mode. Most of the time I use program mode, aperture, or shutter priority mode.
oh i misread the post. i thought he just borrowed one. if he bought it of course hed learn manual and stuff. and i do agree manual is way better.
no gen 4 does not have hood dampers. only the gen 4.5 design. i cant even add them because of the structural differences in the seal between front windsheild area to the hood.
my hood is FRICKEN heavy and it would be nice to have some dampers.
buying a dslr and using auto/presets when you have manual makes no sense to me, hehe.
Agreed. I shoot with a Nikon D70s and I never use auto or the preset modes. To me using auto or the preset modes defeats the purpose of buying a DSLR. I bought a DSLR because I wanted full control and don't like the limitations with point & shoot cameras.
Most of the time I shoot in P (programmed AE). A (apature priority) if I want to stop the lense down to a certain apature to control DOF (depth of field). S (shutter priority) if I'm shooting fast moving objects. M (manual) for night shots or when I want to control apature and shutter speed.
Your pics look good, although some of them could use a little more light. Try using the flash, which will provide fill flash during daylight. If you don't already have one, I suggest buying a external flash.

one thing i quickly learned after i bought my car is that modding it is expensive. one thing i learned after i bought this camera is...it's expensive, too.
i just have to decide what's more important? a molded gialla spoiler for my trunk or new toys for my camera?

Try playing with the AV mode, its a little easier than jumping straight into full manual. I love my XTi! What lens are you using? I tend to shoot cars with my 17-85mm and I'm looking into the 10-22mm as my next purchase.
btw, what rims are those?
