thats freaking sweet!
all we do in T TEN toyota class is destroy toyota provided vehicles all day....not as much fun as building yur own vehicle from scratch!
whats the powerplant on one of these?
this year (as well as the last 2 years, or so) we're using a Honda CBR600F4 converted to fuel injection ...
the block on the table is actuall the CBR600 F4i, which is basically what our custom conversion makes it into...
its for Formula SAE ... so we're required to use a 600cc (or less) 4-stroke engine ... i'd rather them use a Suzuki GSXR600, but oh well ... we also have to run a 20mm restrictor on the air intake, so we have had to dumb down the engine internals to compensate for such little air flow, but most teams that dyno their cars end up around 80hp (which isnt bad considering our car is ~500 lbs, but good teams are as low as ~375lbs)
we're thinking about turbocharging it, but that probably wont happen until next year (ive been pushing them towards doing it, but a lot of the guys arent familiar with it, so they are iffy about it) - plus it already goes 0-60 in around 3 seconds and none of us are man enough to top it out

nice man that looks liek alot of fun. that reminds me of highschool cept we had to build in the other direction, electric and endurance.
yeah, we compete in a Skid Pad, Autocross, Acceleration & Braking, and Endurance competition .... as well as all that boring stuff like Design, Business Presentations, blahblah (since Ford & GM will be there )

j/k, looks like fun. I checked out their cars (this year and last year) a month or so ago, must be a fun build up.

thats awesome. all we did was do endurance races...and its was a time tiral more than a race. wed sit and listen to the car as it softly hummed by ever 10 mins or so but me being in charge of body design resulted in us having the least amount of drag and resistance to bad out batterys died early and we lost bigtime
indeed .... i have to say that the most fun so far was mandrel-bending the front roll-hoop, main roll-hoop, and harness bar (they have deemed me the specialist on mandrel-bending, so i got to do all those)

depends on your school ... we build all year long in preparation for the competition in May
some schools will build two cars at a time or whatever, since there is also a competition in the Winter in VA (less popular, the one in Detroit has been the biggest and oldest)
we also allow people to join the team whenever since its only a 4-year old program @ our school, so we need more people to help build ... some schools that have huge million-dollar programs have application processes and crap
