bB626's rebuild thread...

so i went to the nearest dealer (Longo Toyota) this morning to get my front and rear bumpers. i have to say that it was scary to drive back from the dealers, here is why...

i cant see my whole right side...

what i bought. as shown (from left to right/top to bottom: rear unpainted bumper cover, painted front bumper lip, front unpainted bumper cover, and rear driver's side side-marker):

looked inside the box...

front bumper cover.

rear bumper cover.

side-marker on the rear bumper.

painted front lip.

it was tempting to install the lip, but its just too damn new. LOL!

now im just searching around some good paint shops...

Dude, I rather much lower the car with the money spent on the bumpers. Any ways, good stuff. Looking forward to see it on our annual Beach meet.
Look forward to seeing my newly installed TRD mod by then.

opps...i didnt see this response. i hit a road sign (back in Feb.) because the windshield was blurred up by the moisture in the morning and it kept coming back. it made my front bumper and its lip f*cked up...

anyway, heres some updates.

i got the bumpers painted and brought it back yesterday. i was bored today so i switch the rear bumper first then i will do the front this weekend. here are the pics:

the xB.

new bumper that got painted.

you can see the bumper...

...and now you dont...

new and old bumper.

took the old rear bumper apart.

installed the lip on the new bumper.

installed the rear side markers wires.

old vs. new driver's side side-marker.

you can kinda see that the old side marker is bent because of the accident.

installed the side markers on the new bumper.

put the tow hook cover on the bumper.

and finish!

hmm...what can i do with the damaged rear bumper?

well, tonight, i decided to switch my front bumper.

lets begin!

took out the grille and the license plate.

bumper off. i was surprised that it wasnt that hard to take it off.

the old bumper.

took out the driver's side fog light, it wasnt hard...

...but when i was taking out the passenger's side fog light, this happened. click on the link if you're comfortable looking at blood...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...8/IMG_9287.jpg

my temporary band aid. LOL!!!

took out the grille pieces.

then the pinky is starting to bother me. so i had to stop for the night.

hmm...the xB front bumper on my brother's Corolla? nah......

^ Pssh, that's nothing, only a scratched pinky. NOthing like a good wax would buffer it out. Nice work Johnny!

so i finally finish my damn "project". LOL! heres the pics...

started the "project" at around 1pm.

took apart the old bumper.

old vs. new. (left is old, right is new)

LOOK! no license plate holes.

put the bumper and the lip together.

uh oh...what in the world was i doing?

ahhh!!! i made a hole in the bumper!!! LOL!

two holes to be exact...

put the fog lights back on.

installed the bumper and checked to see if the fog lights works correctly...

FIN.

to those who ask themselves "why did he put holes for the license plate?":

remember this, i am about being OEM JDM style (without getting pulled over. LOL!).

cheers!
