Haven't posted in ages...here is a before and after of my redone tail lights(smoked)

Well as I got the urge to do some type of mod for my car since everyone else has been showing off their stuff. Anyways, this was a bitch of job as always(this not being the first time). First off my before pic was a shot taken with my trigger happy finger when i was spraying with the testors transparent window tint.

-and here it is.(Sorry no clear pics) But as you can tell it was basically high glossed blacked out. I liked it because i had never seen a good smoked glossed out tail light that was extremely transparent.

1.

And here is the new pics...i wanted to go with an oem look, more like a gen5.5 smoked look. I hated how the oem gen5 looked extremely red, so here are my shots. I know they are hard to tell the true color and gloss(lack of decent lighting) but here they are

2.

3.

4.

More pics to come as there will be some daylight.

enjoy

^haha....i did them myself....but i can make a DIY, or have someone in the los angeles area let me use their tails, and i could show everyone. Its very simple first sand from 400-2000 grit(wet sand that is). then apply very thin light coats until you have the tint you almost want(but not as dark as you want...i'd say just a better to stay on the way lighter side)...with about 10 mins in between coats, then when you are ready to make it as dark as you want go for a medium wet coat, 10 mins to dry, then clear withabut 3-4 coats and again 10 mins between coats. Lastly, probably the most important, step is to wet sand to the point where the clear is smooth, since the problem with spray cans is that they tend to leave sputters. I would say wet sand starting with 800...but i started with 400 (light sanding) and bumped up to 2000 grit. then you'll see the paint start to get smoother and smoother. For the final step, you'll want to get a hold of a buffer and just use some sort of heavy-medium cut and work your way down. and voila you have smoked tails a la you.
