Hell no i wouldnt go smaller, Since i got my rims i havent hit any cubs.... I scrapped one and punctured the sidewall.... but never hit a curb... Trust me nobody is driving my car again unless they leave a 1300 deposit in cash...
Whats funny is i actually already bought my tires... But i bought them for these rims, Thinking my rims had only flats (was the middle of the night had to come back for the car... wasnt until after i got them off i realized i jumped the gun) so i was going to sell them if i go bigger... Im not really sure how to read tire sizes but if i go 18x8.5 or even 9.5 would these still fit... Nanking 225/40r18
I got them for 310 after tax and everything for all 4... I was goin to try and sell them but if they fit x8.5-9.5 i guess i wont bother think about 19s (no 20s for sure i have seen too many on cardomain look like shit...)
Edit: Oh alright i just read this thing on tire sizes...
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=46 ... Clearly tells you the 225 is for across measurement in mm and 225mm / 25.4 = 8.86"... So clearly this wont stretch to 9 (Just to be clear

)??
Edit: Did more googling, thought i might answer my own question for anyone who searches this later on.. It can be stretched to 9 easily... Weather its safe or not is another question... You usually only stretch the tires like that to clear the fenders when you drop it really really really low... But a extra .5 isnt too bad compared to what some other ppl are doing (esp the Golf/rx7/s13s type of rear wheel drive cars)... I plan on lookin to some 18x9 tomorrow and stretch... next time i get tires ill go bigger depending on how it works out this time...
