So My Friend Destroyed Two of My Rims & 3 Tires...

Apparently there are imaginery curbs on the turnpike... I woke up in the passenger seat to "we have a flat"... i dont know what the hell he hit ,i was passed out but god damn it must of been a inivisble curb in the middle of the turnpike... Two bent out of shape rims... three blown tires (wat really gets me is the okay rim in the back that got a blown tire its only the sidewall... which usually means you scrapped the side of a curb)

I think what really pissed me off is i just changed my headlights and was about to change the front bumper to the 00-01 with the black grill...

Anyway wat do you think i should do... I could fix the rims for more then they are worth (150 shipped each new vs 165 & 185 to fix them) Or I can get 20x8.5 (190 new shipped each) for the back and use my 18x7.5 for the front... Not sure how this would look though... Orginally I was going to just buy two new ones but they called me back after i paid for them and apparently they only have one... and they are about to be discontinued...

They can call me mean, but none of my friends drive my car. I would definitely get new rims...I guess it's an excuse to upgrade to something better.

So new rims... You think i should go bigger? I was considering 20s with some really low profile tires... or 18 or 19 x 8.5 or 9.5 ... Because my 7.5 werent really wide enough fill out the rear fenders... Spacers where on my to do list also but since im upgrading..

I would get 18 max.... 20 is over doing it. I think 18x8 is good if you can fit it in. I don't think a 9 width wheel would fit.

going bigger wouldnt exactly be the best choice when you just destroyed 2 wheels and 3 tires at your current size thats my two cents.

I Agree with Damon...Go with 17's and thicker side walls and spacers...esp if ur friend is going to be driving it again

Have you friend pay for half, it is obvious that person wasn't paying attention to road conditions. Upgrade to a nice set of forged wheels with a 18x8.5 size +35-38 offset, 225/40/18 tire.

Hell no i wouldnt go smaller, Since i got my rims i havent hit any cubs.... I scrapped one and punctured the sidewall.... but never hit a curb... Trust me nobody is driving my car again unless they leave a 1300 deposit in cash...

Whats funny is i actually already bought my tires... But i bought them for these rims, Thinking my rims had only flats (was the middle of the night had to come back for the car... wasnt until after i got them off i realized i jumped the gun) so i was going to sell them if i go bigger... Im not really sure how to read tire sizes but if i go 18x8.5 or even 9.5 would these still fit... Nanking 225/40r18

I got them for 310 after tax and everything for all 4... I was goin to try and sell them but if they fit x8.5-9.5 i guess i wont bother think about 19s (no 20s for sure i have seen too many on cardomain look like shit...)

Edit: Oh alright i just read this thing on tire sizes... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=46 ... Clearly tells you the 225 is for across measurement in mm and 225mm / 25.4 = 8.86"... So clearly this wont stretch to 9 (Just to be clear )??

Edit: Did more googling, thought i might answer my own question for anyone who searches this later on.. It can be stretched to 9 easily... Weather its safe or not is another question... You usually only stretch the tires like that to clear the fenders when you drop it really really really low... But a extra .5 isnt too bad compared to what some other ppl are doing (esp the Golf/rx7/s13s type of rear wheel drive cars)... I plan on lookin to some 18x9 tomorrow and stretch... next time i get tires ill go bigger depending on how it works out this time...
