Photoshoot and Camcorder Test

Me and my friend took some pics of the car the other night. I also borrowed my friend's suction mount so I decided to test that out as well. Everything came out alright until the mount fell off my car. Anyone know of a good site that sells these mounts? I'm looking for one that can support roughly 5-7 lbs. The one that fell off was a Gecko or something from Samy's Camera.

Nice pics Danny. Your Gen4.5 is one of my favorites!

The video is pretty good too. Did the camcorder get damaged when the mount fell off?

Thanks for the comment Milt, I appreciate it.

Yeah I'm interested in the one you have. 100 doesn't sound that bad, let me know.

Thanks, good to hear that it's one of your favorites

Luckily the camcorder wasn't mounted on it so the only thing I lost was the mount itself. I guess it just got loose and fell off on the freeway haha.

I think the surface of the car was a little dirty. Hopefully the next one will stay on.

Haha glad you liked the vid and thanks for the comment . Get that lip kit fabricated and your car will look a lot better. Let me know if you need more info on it and good luck

looks good! When you first started the car, I thought that you had figured out a way to block out wind noise....but boo....I see that everybody has that problem unless they have a really good camcorder. I'm going to try a sponge over my mic, which is supposed to help.

as for the mount...what type of mount was it that you used and fell off? was it a real mount or a ghetto rig mount? I use a body puller suction cup that's able to hold 10lbs and my camcorder weighs about 1.5, so I've not had any problems....yes. knock on wood.

Blocking out the wind noise sounds tricky. Let me know how that sponge thing works out though.

This was my friend's mount so I have to find something that can replace it. It seemed to be a quality mount (retail was $90 I think). I'm not sure what the max lbs. is for it, but the wind can really push it around depending on where it's mounted. It couldn't even keep my own camcorder steady so I had to use one of the mini HD ones instead. This link has the exact same one I was using:

wow...I always read the reviews on the gecko mounts and they're supposed to be pretty good. though, I always wondered about those smaller suction cups that they use....but I presumed that they were well designed.

that's some bad luck there, but at least you didn't lose the camera!
