4th Generation The not so common sound deading and suspension upgrade...

After doing months of research and planning, the sound deadening and suspension upgrade is just about finished. No new parts needed here. This was all done with 8lb and 2lb Polyurethane Foam. The frame rails, upper speaker deck, seat rails, and under the rear seat void was all filled in with 8lb polyurethane foam. Stronger then balsa wood as you have to hit it with a hammer to dent the foam once cured. The Handi foam (2lb) was used to fill in the A, B, C pillars along with all other voids which may cause rattling. From all the reading on nissan forums, supposedly there should be nearly a 40% increase in the stiffness of the chassis and a much quiter ride once I combine the install of the B-Quite sound deadening material. Here are a couple of pics of the foam mess. More information to come on how big of a difference the foam has made from a sound deadening and suspension perspective. The idea is to take a stock camry and see what the difference is. Overall, I would say for under $250 for the foam. Its definitly worth it, that is if you have the time as its very time consuming...

On all the pillars, the 2lb handi foam is not nearly as dense as the 8lb us composite polyurethane foam. The panels will go back inside the clips no problem. The challenge I ran into with the 8lb foam was having to dremel out the holes so that the clips will go back into the frame. Tuff, but well worth it.
