two acquaintances came in a WRX and then they went back midway to go grab their corvette
came back and started doing parking lot drifts LOL
while entertaining, but kinda irresponsible...impressive though
99 corvette with an LS9 swap and major weight reduction. weighs just over 2200lb
just over 500whp...wouldave given tony's camry a good run

I was wondering about that Vette.. LS9 swap would mean it has to be supercharged and has to use the entire ECU system off a C6 ZR1?
Not to doubt the car, but I didn't hear any twin screw S/C, and that car sounds rather mild similar to an LS1 with bolt-ons. The LS9's should sound really aggressive since I had a chance to run a few of them already. Even for an LS6, the engine would have a very high and raspy exhaust note due to the different heads and cams. I thought it was just a random C5 Vette stock'ish mods that just cruised into the meet. I had no idea it was the one you've talked about during the meet!
Any links of his build, or pics of his car (engine, etc.)? This is a car that I would have to wave the BS flag until there is come concrete build pics. I just didn't hear any impressive V8's at all that night.
Here's a quick video of how an LS9 actually idles and sounds like.. This swap on the Camaro was done in less than a year ago by Hennessey, and there is still no ECU packages available yet for those LS9 swap owners out to the public. The ECU has to be custom wired, full standalone and lots of supporting electronics to control the entire engine system (dry sump, water/air setup, etc..). It's a very difficult and costly swap.

just to make sure we talking about the same car. my acquaintance's vette is the white C5 with a black front end custom paint job.
there's a C6 there as well, yellow one...and they've pulled before and the C5 pulls away at the 200km mark. (all the testing were done in private roads and drag strips.)
too bad you left as soon as they arrived. the owner was that corvette wanted to try a few pulls at the local privately owned farm roads.
well, i know basically zilch about corvettes so i've forwarded the thread to him and hopefully we'll get some answers soon haha.
he did mention that he have a custom exhaust to quieten things a little and since the swap he swapped two different transmission already lol.

The one I was referring to is the one that did the doughnuts in the parking lot...
Don't be too gullible.. Although I usually never confront these people and just walk away.
To claim that his C5 is 2200 lbs, should be a big slew of BS already..
An American Lemans C5R race car, full CF and fiberglass, weighs in at 2511 lbs... If the Vette you are speaking of, was in fact weighing in at 2200 lbs, it would be half a Corvette, maybe one door, a trunk and no hood, one headlight and a Honda SOHC VTEC motor.
C5R, to get an idea what type of race car I was referring to that still weights 2511 lbs with all the weight reduction possible:
This is just to put a few things in perspective... I don't doubt his car at all, and any LS-series V8 can be modded to beat another. But V8's are easy to determine their mods. You can hear their cams, heads, or any form of boost. But to claim things way out of the ordinary, must be backed up with proof, knowledge and of course, pics and videos.

^haha that just proves me how little i know about corvettes.
well, to be honest, he probably has no idea about how much it weighs in lbs. When I asked him how much it weighs in lbs and he said he didn't know...so he said it was a bit over 1 metric tonne and said that's about 2200lbs lol
it was totally worth it though, but by the time we were leaving, i was frozen all the way. had troubling lighting a cig cuz the fingers were so numb.
btw, off topic...can i start parting the rest of the donor car out...like wheels and suspension and have it sit on cinder blocks for a flatbed?
I suggest not to, because I still need to keep the car mobile so I can still push it if needed. If you have an interested buyer for the parts, I suggest you to tow it home first, strip all the parts off the car and organize a list of parts for sale, and then ditch the shell

If that's the one, no way it has an LS9... No S/C whine, no S/C belt/tensioner at idle, and sounds like an LS1! Regardless of muffler, it doesn't muffle out cam overlap. I am sure he has some mods, I guess this would be a time to call him here on the forums and show us his entire build and a full mod list. Or forever I call BS on that car, just because I have so many Vette buddies.. Twin turbo ones, C5/C6, etc.. I would have heard about it already if such swap at this caliber exists locally

alright, sounds good. if you need parts from it, they are yours for free.so take whatever you want for backup parts. i might drop by to take some smaller parts home to sell and when you want that parts car out of your parking lot, just let me know and i'll just recycle it.
