Ok guys, so im trying to finish off my lip kit on the coupe. the RMM lip has been ordered, i already have my rears all worked out and im just wating to find some side skirts. issue im now having is paint. painting this kit to match will not be a big problem. however, the car's paint is starting to show its age, despite waxing and other protection the clear coats is peeling off the passenger door frame, paint is chippin on the fender and all origional paint is starting to oxidize. a full paint job will be needed which i dont and wont spend the money on right now.
SO...my options are these: f**k the kit and just wait to see if i ever get it painted, or, paint the parts black myself (which im pretty good at) to match the theme (i will be painting my rims black) and then repaint when i repaint the whole car. in my head it looks pretty good but i wanted opinions from others.
heres some photoshop-for-thought...keep in mind there will be black sid skirts, black rear TRD spats, and black wheels.
Hells yeah! Paint it all black. I painted my bumper white and RMM lip black with the El'cheepo cans of spray paint from HD. Everything looks fine. It will look just fine till or If you ever get the whole thing painted. I think I spent less than $15. Thats includes a couple diff grits of wet dry sand paper and all the paint. F*** it bring it over here Ill do it. I have a paint gun I havent even opened the box yet. We need to get this f***in kit mounted up. Im a master at makin s*** work. Lets get it done.......
i'm in the minority here, but i would paint it red....don't worry about the rest of the car, from what i can see she still looks great.. if it isn't a show car( i know mine isn't) i wouldn't worry about perfect paint.. I just think a black bodykit, even when professionally painted looks like you were too anxious to wait to paint it and just put it on out of the box...I would love to see your car with a full red lipkit, but would hate to see it two-toned.. (it will look like those monte carlo ss models they did a few years back..ugly) cars that are modded and driven daily should be about character, not about being perfect..mines got loads of character..haha chicks dig it.
just my 2 cents i also think painting your wheels black will make them look incredibly cheap..

Wha?!? Really. I still like the two tone Especially on the red car. I thought I was going to hate the CF hood on my white car but as soon as I Put it on I felt like it was right at home. Same with the RMM lip. Im not sure I would have liked mine white. Id go ahead and paint it red first and if you dont like it change it to BLK. Idk but Personally. Maybe just for monetary reasons but Id just paint it black. I think it would fit you're theme just fine....
well personally id agree with eyeball and scamry, i dont like 2 tone (hate thoes monte carlos...cept in red and black ). the only reason i can see it working temproarily is if i leave the hood black/CF for now. the only part i really give a crap about is the RMM lip but i have never liked the look of it on a bright colored car without a full kit, id rather have a full black kit then a red RMM lip and nothing else. i suppose what i can do is to just paint it and mount it and see what i think. if i dont like it i can always take the side skirts and rear spats off till paint time.
You could just mount it up without painting it for the time being. It will prolly match the stock side skirts. Then if you choose to apint it red later No problems. Just a thought..
even though my car is also 2-tone right now and it looks bad ass and like it will eat you up, I'm still trying to decide if I want to spend the money to paint my entire car again...every time I think my car looks good, and it does....I look a my old pictures when my car was all one color and I feel like crying.... *sniff*
