We've been friends with my mechanic for about 10-15 years now. We met him through his son, who went to school with my sister. He always gives us amazing deals, and sometimes doesn't charge for small work. My car was up there and I was going to pick it up on the 14th, but it was locked inside the fence and I couldn't get it because he had left for the day. The next morning, I call my mom to take her to lunch and ask about plans for lunch and when we are getting my car. She goes "Uh... plans have changed, there was a fire at the shop." I about fell over right there. Then she said my car was fine, as it was left outside (for once, due to no rain). Whew!!!! My sister grabbed my spare and a friend and retrieved the car for me to pick up later. She's untouched by fire, smoke, soot, water, anything.

My original key is toast though. Here's some pics of the damage.

My car is in lower corner, was right beside the building inside the fence.
3 cars inside are a complete loss.

From what my mom and sister have told me, the hoods of all the cars were blown off the cars because of the fire. You can kinda see it in the photos.
This really sucks.

Our mechanic dropped insurance a few months ago, so he won't be getting anything from it. The vet/boarder across the way facing his building said it caught fire at about 4 AM. There was a camera outside the shop, but... if it was recording, that video is long gone too. My sister told me this is the 4th shop in 4 weeks to burn.
