Claybar + Wax (Pics Inside:))

So I was waiting for some quotes for mugs I'm looking into for the forum yesterday afternoon and I decided to spend my afternoon claybar-ing and waxing my car. This was my first time EVER using a claybar, I've never done it before... I have waxed, but never claybar-ed...

I first washed the car. Then, I used the "Mother's" clay bar kit, which comes with 2x80g clay bars, 1x a microfiber towel, and the quickdetailer to lubricate. I then applied Meguiars Canaubra Wax with some applicator pads. I took care of the wax/claybar as I do the wash of the car, from top of the car to the bottom, one panel at a time I also used some Turtle Wax long last tire shine and Meguiars Hot Rimz Rim Cleaner.

I was in the middle of doing this, and twice I was approached by neighbours, one said "I always see you with you car!! What are you doing now?" And when I explained, she was like "Can I bring you my car next week?" Another one, who walked by just as I was finishing up was like "Wow, your car looks great!! How many miles does it have on it??" And when I told her, she was floored at how great it looked I love getting compliments for my car

Here are some pics of the car after everything was done:

These pictures were intentionally over-exposed, as to try and capture the shine:

In the rear quarterpanel, it REALLY looked AMAZING, and it was smooth as silk!!

Roof and rear doorThe white residue on the rear window plastic is from a previous polish job in which I didn't tape things up properly

Thanks guys 6M1 is one of those beautiful colors in my mind, not black, not green, right in between It kinda saddens me to know that '95 was the last year they painted cars that color... I was actually surprised how much stuff the clay bar pulled off!

EDIT: On another note, one problem I'm having is the minerals from the water in the garden hose seem to love settling on my windows, any advice? Rain X spray maybe?

Incorrect.

The color AFAIK was still being used on the old IS300 and Sportcross versions.

95 was the last CAMRY year for 6M1. 96 they switched to 6P2. Lexus never used 6M1.

Some cool stuff: Camry: 6P2 vs. 6M1

If Lexus has used 6M1 on the older IS, or at all, I've never seen it You may be right

Interesting comparison Ken I find it interesting that it seems like we both have the common issue of weird paint chipping on the hood

I have nothing against 6P2, I think it's actually pretty nice! My dad's RL's color is pretty close to 6P2 actually... I'm pretty sure they call it Devon Slate Pearl. I don't have a picture of his car, but here is a stock picture of his color:

But I typically lean towards black cars, and Toyota's black (on never Camry's at least) looks like a 12 year old took a spray can of black paint and started painting There is no sparkly to the paint. So 6M1 is the perfect black, but not black with a tinge of green and just enough sparkly

EDIT:

I looked into the Lexus using 6M1 on the IS series, and it appears they didn't, at least not in the '00-'05 range. I used www.paintscratch.com BUT Lexus DID use it on a two tone combination (as well as a single tone) in the ES300 (in '95 at least), so you were right, just wrong model. I also seems that in the '96 ES, they also converted to 6P2 in the same two tone combination, just like in the Camry So I guess maybe '95 was the last year they used that color overall?

Ack!

The statement I made earlier was incorrect.

I seemed to have mixed up Electric Green Mica and Dark Emerald Pearl as I was googling up IS300s in green.

On another note, I do know that Corolla's came in 6M1 in 1999, which I guess was the last year in Toyota.

Shame really since it's a classy color.
