Project $250 Ford Ranger beater..

Hello TN...some of you may know me for the blue gen5 camry that I have, but this is a different story..

I picked up my 1993 supercab Ford Ranger XL for $250 last summer, mostly as a beater because the deal was too good to turn down.. The truck had been the shop truck at the chemical plant my dad supervised, and they were pretty much writing it off..

So I picked it up..4x4 with less than 40k on the odometer....the truck runs strong, looks ok...the only real downside is that about 2 months before I bought it, someone junked the driver's door... So, I picked up a junkyard door, and headliner, and drove the truck this winter...

In August, I'm going to pharmacy school in the fall in southern VA, in the coalfields, and I have no interest in taking my nice Camry down there to get dirty, so, in comes the truck...haha

This is the only pic I have of the truck right now, I will get some more once school is out next week...

My plans are:
Explorer seats and console(already purchased) (i'm ready for cupholders!!!!)
Clear headlights and corners(already purchased, on the way)
new locks
plaid interior
Small stereo system(10, amp, HU: mostly purchased)
Paint door(soon)
15x8 Cragar V-5(going on tomorrow morning) with some used 31s for a while
Front valence with fogs
Pro-comp light bar w/ some KCs
Window tint(duh)
3' PA bodylift
33x12.50x15 BFG ATs
custom bed-mount tire carrier
Ventvisors
crappy plastic toolbox i got for free
painted flares, grille, mirrors, etc..
remove grandpa deluxe mudflaps..

and some other stuff I'll add as it comes...

This will all be done before August, so stay tuned for a lot of updates, starting next week...I figure I can make it a nice little semi-presentable rowdy truck for under 2 grand.... Obviously this truck will no longer be a beater, it may not be a luxury cruiser...but i think it will suit me just fine..

What engine is under the hood, hope you got a manual trans the automatics are known to go emo and explode hahaha. A rare item is the Ford Explorer Limited compass and outside temperature display, if you want something rare. How do I know this well I have a Ford Explorer

I am going to the Appalachian College of Pharmacy in Grundy ,VA... It's a small, and relatively new school(AND IN THE COMPLETE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE), but it is 3 years vs. 4 at other schools I could have gone to, and only one class at a time...I have a friend going there now, and the people are great as well..All of which I see as huge advantages....

So today I got my Cragars mounted on my pretty much free 31s(my roomate hauled them away for someone, they are old and have just a little life left, but will do until I decide what to do about lifting it). I'll get some pics tomorrow...Hoping to do some seat stuff tomorrow too as long as the rain stays away...

And TTercel, it's got the 3.slow(it does ok though, even with the 31s) and an autotragic(i know, worst combo) but it will do I think(and hope!!) If not, I always have the camry..

I've been to Gundy, Its a nice little town. George C Scott, (the movie Patton) was from Wise Co. I grew up in Bristol myself.

Congratulations on being accepted to Pharmacy school! Pharmacist make big bucks!

ok, finally a day without rain clouds..

15x8 Cragar V-5 3.75in bs on real old 31x10.5x15 Cooper Vagabonds. The tires will be replaced shortly by either BFG ATs or some Wranglers...

I love the stance improvement, so much better...

The BL and 33s have been put on hold, as I am not really ready or willing to re-gear or axle swap at this time... However, some other small junkyard finds will likely find their way onto the truck in the near future..namely new door panels and a little net thingy for the back of the cab out of another supercab... Clear corners and headlights will be going on in the morning...Paint on the blue door maybe next week...

That thing looks like it's in pretty good condition!

$250 is a steal for a beater truck.
