New Camera= Random Pics (Added more 240 Pics)

So- tomorrow is my wife and I's one year anniversary, so we are heading out of town for the weekend. Alicia got me/us a Cannon Rebel XT for our anniversary- I am so stoked! I have always wanted a decent camera, but I have never spent the money on one. I can finally take decent pictures when I document my build!

Anyway, being excited about it, I decided to snap a few pics of the 240 last night and decided to give a little update on the current stable- including the Toyotas! Nothing exciting at all really, but I thought it would be fun.

1993 Nissan 240SX

154,XXX miles (on chassis)

I just started the car for the first time in nearly nine months on Wednesday night! I still need to tie up a couple of vacuum lines and miscellaneous items, but it should be on the road and ready for tuning next week when I get home! I did a lot of stuff over the winter, but the main items were an Apexi Power FC standalone, GT28R turbo, all new exhaust, GReddy intake manifold, Apexi head gasket, and Tomei Cams. I also totally redid the exterior with complete Kouki 180SX aero and new wheels:

My Brides.

1994 Toyota Camry
232,XXX Miles

The infamous Camry from the days of old- my first car, haha. Still kicking it as my daily driver, and I hope that it keeps running strong! It has fallen into a massive state of neglect now that it is just a winter beater- poor Camry, haha. The only mods left are H&R springs, 3 Tokico struts and 1 KYB strut, Ebay inatake, and the Ripp Mods header/custom catback. Ugh, it sounds horrible. I still love it though!

1999 Toyota Solara
110,XXX Miles

This is currently Alicia's daily driver and the car that we take on vacations. It was previously Brett's (YESCA's) car and we bought it just over a year ago. It was TRD supercharged when we got it, but we sold it since Alicia wasn't wild about buying premium gas. It's mostly stock at this point aside from the Renova grille and a GReddy SP2 muffler. I am hoping to make this my daily driver, sell my Camry if it is still around, and purchase a newer car for Alicia late next year.

With that in mind, I have an Injen intake and GReddy Evo 2 catback on the way for it. If I do end up making this my new daily, I'll probably toss my springs from the camry on it, tint the windows lightly, get a Kaminari lip kit, and throw some cheap wheels with good fitment on it. That would be a perfect daily!

A storm had just rolled through, so the lighting was really weird outside. I didn't know how to turn the flash off yet, so these look pretty bad lol. The bike rack is just on loan to us- I'm not wild about it, but oh well.

So yeah- I'll update you guys when the 240 is all set up and on the road- and when the Solara parts show up.

Damon

I have the same camera.

Turn the knob to the last icon of the flash with a slash box through it to turn the flash off. Only shoots in ISO400 so keep that in mind.

All those cars are looking good! Love the 240's progress. Nice to see that you bought another Solara again.

Congrats on the new camera! I've got a Canon EOS Rebel too, although mines the XSi (model before yours). Screw automatic mode, shoot in full manual! (the little M on the big wheel). You can shoot at ISO 100 that way and there will be no grain in dark situations (not that there's any in the photos you've taken, which look great by the way). You can also choose when you want the flash to pop up since it doesn't do it automatically.

The easiest way to shoot in full manual mode is to use LiveView. Just press the button in the middle that says 'Set' and it'll take you into LiveView mode, now adjust the wheel at the top (between the ISO button and the shutter) and your exposure will be changed (turning the wheel to the left will make the image brighter and turning to the right will make it darker). Once you get the correct exposure, press the 'Set' button again to exit LiveView mode and take your picture through the viewfinder as normal. It took me a few months to become confident enough to use full manual mode, but once I discovered that you can use LiveView to determine the exposure it was incredibly simple. I haven't used any of the automatic modes since. You can also change your aperture too so you can choose how much of the image is in focus (such as if you did a close-up of the turbo it could be f/4.0 so only that is in focus and the background would be blurry, or you could choose f/16 and have the whole engine bay in focus while you're shooting the turbo). PM me if you've got any questions.

Have fun with the camera. Looking forward to seeing more photos!

Damon, I'd love to draw your RPS13. Think of it as a anniversary gift for you from me.

Thanks dudes! I think soon I will put my H&R springs from the Camry on the Solara, if the wife lets me.

I thought the Rebel series went Digi Reb/300D - XT/350D - XTi/400D - XSi/450D - T1i/500D - T2i/550D ...XT being the oldest and T1i/T2i being the newest.

I shoot with an XTi and/or an older 1Ds MkII ...and I like my XTi way better (unless I'm doing freelance work that requires high res large scale finals).

Manual mode FTW!
