Well since the weather has taken a turn for the warmer and drier here in New York, I seized the opportunity and washed and vacuumed my car today. Here are some pics, just because I could... I know it ain't a showpiece but it's my whip and I'm proud of it
Enjoy

While it's high and dry, wax it well. When that rain pours again, you'll only need to just wipe off the dirt. Trust me. It happened to my car. I just waxed it days before the downpour here in SoCal and when it rained I had to use it. The next day, dry in the garage, the car was still shiny and showed no sign of being in the rain the day before. Saves you another washing.
Until now it's still shiny, I just had to wipe off some dirt and some dried out water. Another waxing will be done soon.
Personally I use Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wax (the trapezoid black box) after applying paint cleaner and polish first.
lol on the footprint gas pedal, I generally associate that with 4x4's that spend more time in the mud than on asphalt Just a certain redneck quality to it...
I might hit it with my Tuttle Wax Zip Wax tomorrow just to get some protection on there, it is supposed to rain sunday. Karugs, you definitely made a very good point about the wax. This time of year, I only really worry about keeping it clean and as free of road salt as possible, but a little wax wouldn't hurt nothin'

Thanks Drew... I'm in Arden, which is in southern Orange County. It's roughly 2 hours from my house to Long Island, give or take, I remember you pm'ed me about a meet 2 months ago that never really took off... I want to hit one over the summer, honestly I don't know shit about LI but one of my buddies knows it well so I'll get there somehow
Steve, may I suggest you also use paint cleaner before waxing it. That way the dirt that's left even after washing would be removed (mostly oxidations). And when you wax it, you'll not cover the stubborn dirt under the wax, which is purposeless if you wax it. You basically trap the dirt in, rather than keep them out if you don't clean it with paint cleaner first before waxing, IMHO.
Although it's not a Toyota, my car remains clean with the constant TLC I give it.
I got a nice Meguiars' clay bar for Xmas that I intend to put to use but I need some sort of surface lubricant for the paint- can that be bought individually? I see the kits for Mothers' all the time but never just the lubricant...

Thanks on your compliment, Steve.
Congrats on the clay bar, you're one step there. You can purchase Meguiar's/Mothers Quick Detailer (not sure which one is sold individually) at car specialty shops, something like Pep Boys or Kragen if you have those stores back there. But if all else fails, there is always the online store: http://www.meguiars.com/product_show...ne=CP&SrcCat=5
One question though. How did you get just the clay bar? I'm sure those are sold as kits with the lubricants in the box.
Personally I haven't used a clay bar yet, but I have tested my new one on the hood and didn't see much difference. Maybe because I already cleaned the paint. But I'll do another claying, and learn to do it properly as well.
You will notice that with a waxed surface, the water will bead up. And with an unwaxed surface, the water will stay in flat sheets.
