How ya like me now Road Noise Deadening in headliner 56k OK
Just wanted to share my pics of deadening the headlner with both raamatt and thermozite. Ill post up a DIY on how to remove it in the morning. Ill also see if it was worth it all tommorow. For the time it took it damned well better.
Raamatt base layer
More Raamatt
Thermozite
Thermozite, the reason it breaks up is for the roof suport, that part makes direct contact with the headliner so putting one inbetween would have runied the perfect mattch
6ish hours, 1 fuse and 4 cans of pop- doned

Actually, Vans don't have C-Pillars. C-pillars are the rear pillars on cars, since it resides down to the trunk. A van doesn't have a trunk, but a cargo bay, so it's literally, a D-pillar instead of a C.
I get comfused between weather or not it's refered to a D or C pillar, but what I was refering to is the pillar just above and forward of your rear deck. That would be a good spot to apply some thermozite too.

yea, xspeed def confused me more then anything else
but yea your right, i have some left over so i can throw some on the pillars. My question was weather its safe to put for raamatt and some thermozite on the firweall, is that a bad idea/ is it safe?

well...be a bit more specific....
are you referring to the cabin side of the firewall?
or are you referring to the engine bay side of hte wirewall??
if it's on the inside, I couldn't see any problems with it....there's no excessive heat that comes through the firewall.....just....how will you do it? will you remove the entire dash and everything first?

yea i would consider removing the dash. I have some rattles there so i need to get around to it sooner or later. It will probably end up being later. For now im going to do the pillars. Road noise is definitly relative to itself. Even thhough the general level of noise is down i can hear more from the A pillar. But it makes listning to instrumental so much nicer.

Did the a pillars today and found that that was a key spot of road noise. 2 layers of raamatt and a layer of thermozite. Removed some white plastic spine thingy in it. Didnt look important. C Pillars are next. Anyone know how to remove the B Pillars.?
Also if i were to put a layer of raamatt ontop of some thermozite would it have the same effect?

Not sure if you're still keeping up with this thread, but if so, I was wondering if you are still happy with your Dynamat job on the roof. I'm doing the exact same job on the same awesome car, and wanted to know if everything is still solid. Was the foam worth the effort? I'm torn between whether or not to fool with the foam. Did you ever do the floor too?

Lucky for you I still subscribe. Even though I am not driving the car anymore(for now, living in NYC). I am very satisfied. The raamatt does a great job working with the internal noises created by a system while the foam(any kind of closed cell will do) is essiental for keeping it quiet inside the cabin. It is definitly worth the effort. There were times when I am on the road I have to open a window to hear the road. Do the floor certainly and the firewall. the A and B pillars too, the C pillar would be less of a priority. My biggest advice would be to take a weekend for the project. Rip out the interior and do it all at once. I did mine piecemeal and it took forever

Nice. Congrats on NYC. Always wanted to live there. I just finished the dynamat on the roof, but haven't tried the foam yet. Did you say you tackled the firewall behind the dash? How did you get the dash apart? Any steps you remember? What did you end up doing with the car?
