Hi,
Thanks for all the help but I`m not sure that I discribed the damage properly.The cover does not have any wear or groove from the chain.However it is the "half moon"raised area that sit directly below where the crank gear goes that has been sheared off.I`m not sure what purpose this raised area served but Isuspect it helps keep the chain covered with oil.With this area missing I don`t know if this would effect lubrication.I suspect this area had been damaged for some time and the guide just took the rest of it out.I have called every junk yard I could think of with no luck.I don`t really want to invest in a new part for this geriatric vehicle if I don`t have to.
