Well, last night was definitely interesting.
I thought I had fixed my cooling problems for good about a week and a half ago by replacing a couple of leaking fittings and hoses and flushing the entire cooling system. Well, after leaving a club last night with a couple of people, we were going through town and I swore I saw a puff or two of steam come from under my hood... thought nothing of it.. then a few blocks later, the temperature guage rockets up. I pull over and pop the hood (getting a free steam bath as well), and see that the steam's coming from the cooling system's overflow reservoir.
Let the car cool off for a while, put some more water and coolant in, and went on our way. Took a close look at _every_ pipe and hose, and none were leaking - just had steam coming out of the pressure-sensitive valve from the overflow reservoir.
Well, not a mile or two down the road, the car starts heating up again... so I kinda try to coast down the street without giving it any gas. Then, sudddenly, the temp. guage drops and I hear a *WOOSH* of water flowing into the radiator...
So, I'm thinking.. possibly my thermostat and/or the water pump need to be replaced. This sound like a reasonable conclusion without having it checked out professionally?
Thanks,
-Kameron
(edit: if it's the water pump, I'm going to be a little upset being this was just replaced not more than a year ago.... :razz
