Here's something you can try, don't know how much of an effect it has. Unscrew the gage cluster and remove the light that blinks when the you're not wearing your belt, maybe that would work.
Personally I hate the stupid belts in my '04 corolla, the tend to react for no reason. I even almost crashed becuase of the belt. But I don't have the money for the ticket or neither do I want to die. But when I feel like it, I don't wear them. Althought the only thing in my car is that I don't have the annoying chime, I just have the light blinking.
