USA Please gimmie advice on suspension, anyone?

Hi fellow Solara owners and lovers. This is my first time on this forum. I want to make my suspension a lot better then the toyota installed suspension. Does anyone have any advice on what brand of strut makers I should use for my car? I have a '99 V6 SLE and I want to change the struts and springs, and I think I will have to change the sway bar and strut tower bar. I want the car to have a tighter, lower, and race like feel. Any ideas?

Gen1

Shocks & Struts

Tokico Blues
KYB
Blistein

Springs

Tein S-Tech (1.7inches in the front, 1.4inches in the back)
Tein H-Tech (still not available){1 inch all around}
Eibach Pro Kit (1.6inches all around)
Vogtland (not really a popular set many have gone with)

.......most people have gone with the Tokico & Tein S-Tech springs setup and some have also gone with the Tokico & Eibach springs setup also.

If your looking for a rear sway bar, I would suggest you got with the TRD sway bar if you can find it because parts from TRD for the Solara are starting to become extinct. If you can't find the TRD rear sway you can also go with the Whiteline rear sway bar and front sway bar (TRD does not make the front sway bar)........Changing the Strut Tower Brace is not needed and won't do much. The TRD STB was just meant to clear the supercharger but won't do much for suspension as the stock one will do the same unless you just want it for looks.......you can always get one off ebay for that for about $10 shipped.

As ~spadwaller~ said in his post you'll find all the info you need on the SolaraGuy.org forum in detail, I just listed basics.

Good Luck on what you decide to go with.

Go for Coilovers, tein or jic, I had the jic on my solara (when I had it) and they were freaken awesome... Also watch out with some people on solaragay, most of them do not know what is going on...

Solaraguy.com is a great site and it is devoted to that specific car, this portion of TN is fairly new, about a year at this point, but as you can see our database is growing on a daily basis. I personally do not visit the site any longer, as miltdoggie said, take things with a grain of salt over there.

as far as suspension goes i had a tokico eibach combination that i would swear by.

a "race like" feel to me wound be springs in the order of around 10kg front and 15+kg rear...

so coil overs are the way to go. tien sport or JIC yo!

Also look up the whiteline front sway bar(connects underneath to your suspension links)
I'm planning to have this installed later next year as many of the more serious modders have this on their setups.

I'm setup with Tein SS coilovers installed on mine. Had the shop drop mine to about 1.5" but I think I could go a little lower but it'll compromise the ride a lil more I think. Tein's are pretty good for a street/daily all-around setup but might be slightly bouncey but i've gotten used to it well as the coilovers seems to have settled down nicely. (Semi-serious)

JIC are ultimate in autocross and superb handling but it requires a lot of tweaking to find the sweet spot unless u ask others that have the JICs of what their settings are. (Serious)
