supercharger pulley size

whats the limit even exceding a little for a pulley size for a 2000 solara i ordered a 6.5 lb pulley from pulleyboys but i am returning it because i dont think the motor will handle it or will it ? i think im gonna get the 6lb pulley instead. how bought some info from some people who have been through this the motor has 80,000 and is running the 4 lb pulley with no problems at all, would like to go to 6 lb pulley

Well I just typed up a nice long informative post about this but got logged out and the post didn't make it and I don't feel like retyping it. Basically it said, in the absense of a GOOD answer and experience from others, I tried this and found problems after 6psi. The cheap cast piston ring lands will not hold up. I went to 7 and eventually 8psi only with water/methanol injection to supress knock and still managed to damage every piston.

Trust me, don't go past 6 on stock internals and only go to 6psi carefully. Some pics of the aftermath on my CarDomain site. -JoeB

I answered your post on SolaraGuy about this. This isn't like other applications where you can buy the kit from 1 place. If all you are talking about is 6psi, you can get away with bolt-ons. Trust me, an engine build will be very expensive done right. I would take that advice and check the compression before you start anything. The ring lands on these cheap cast pistons can't take much. -JoeB
