Front License Plate Holder

I need to purchase a proper front license plate bracket for a 2005 Solara. My local dealer tells me to use sheet metal screws to hold my plate up with. Is this true? Something tells me the japanese automakers are a little more savvy than that...

I'm in the same boat. they drilled 2 holes (very sloppy) and used 2 big sheet metal screws to screw in the plate and their plastic frame onto the bumper. After a ouple of days I found out how they attached it and realized it scratched the paint. So, right now the car has no front plate. Cops in NY don't really care about no front plate, but they will use it as an excuse to stop you if they want to profile for something esle.

I did find these small (1/2"x1/2"_, clear sticky squares that I'm going to put on the front bumper to use as a stand off for the license plate frame. I got them from Lowes for $2.

unfortunately they drilled 2 holes in my bumper when i requested it 5 times not to , but ofcourse they did it anyway. Here is a link to purchase the bracket off ebay that doesnt have anything to do with drilling and you can put your plate anywhere on your front bumper you want it to be located, hope this helps.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-s...QQcmdZViewItem

You can buy a front plate bracket from the dealer.
it was like $12, if i remember right..
i put the bracket on to the bumper, license plate, then clear cover you can find at any walmart or autozone.
it looks much better than putting a plate directly..

Can you provide more detail on this bracket. When I asked dealer, they state "no such offering"!

why dont you just buy it off ebay with the link i posted or look up bracket.I asked my dealership also and they said they didnt have it either but i know other people who got it and have NO HOLES on there bumper when they picked it up. I guess it all depends on the dealership.

I'm looking for the bracket that mounts to the bumper and uses the 2 hoes that I already have. What I don't like is that without a bracket the plate is angled and the bottom sticks out...looks stupid.
The bracket you link to appears to be one that mounts with screws being vertical. So that means it would be mounted into the lower opening and holes drilled underneath bumper....not sure I like that look....like the open look of the lower opening.

I posted (most of) this on Solaraguy.org...

"75101-AA050 Bracket Sub-Assembly

I've just placed an order with my local dealership... quoted about $11... if you're in the San Francisco Area, this is City Toyota in Daly City... their number is 1-866-248-9869... they also run the partstoyota.com website... but the part isn't listed there... (and shipping would be a biyatch...) I'm going to pick it up...

edit: was $11.40 + tax w/ local pickup"

This was more than a year ago, so the price may have changed.
