Noise Front Passenger in the mornings

Hi

I have a 2000 Camry Solara with 65k. Recently it started some noise in the front passenger side near the wheel during the warm up in the mornings.

I took it to Firestone. They said it could be the Timing Belt tensioner. They recommended to change the time belt and gave me an estimate of $600.

I talked to Toyota directly and they say I just missed the Power Trian Warranty by 4 months.

No one is not even sure if it is the Timing Belt Tensioner or something very small.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in Advance
A

Havent personally heard of this issue, just during warm up. I would be more inclined to have an inspection done at toyota, and then decide who does the work.

check your shocks/struts. a friend of mine has a similar problem with that side...but all the time. if the struts are still OK, you havent lost anything.

Yo Twin, exactly what I was thinking.... Take the car to get inspected by TOYOTA, then figure out the rest....

Check the front strut mounts - could be making the noise. They were a defective design for our generation Solara / Camry. I was able to fix most of hte noise by loosening and re-torquing the mount bolts (just pop the hood, 3 bolts on each side), although in worse cases or eventually they might need replaced (~$400).
