Traction Light with P0135 check engine code

The check engine light came up on my 99 solara a few months ago and when I got it scanned they told me it was the O2 sensor. I replaced the sensor but the light did not go off so I had the computer reset. At the same time my traction light came on saying that my traction system was off and I could not turn it back on. After I reset the codes everything went off for a few days until the check engine light came back on with the same code. A couple of days later, I was pulling out into traffic and the car started jerking forward and the traction light popped back on. I have not noticed any driving problems other than right before the traction light comes on. Does anyone have any ideas?

I had my check engin light on and shortly after my traction light came on. Pull codes and they show a multiple of things. I disconnected the batter. Using repair manual and mulitmeter I went through each code. I replaced the rear O2 sensor reconnected the battery and all is well. NOTE follow each code all the way through ... it could be other problems that cause the code to popup and not necessarly the one that is shown.

I had my check engine light on and the problem was the O2 sensor which I replaced. Then the traction light came on, so I fixed that. Now the check engine light is back on, as is the traction light. I have been told that the check engine light is on because the catalytic converter needs replaced. Has anyone else experienced the same issue? And would this have any affect on the traction light problem?

it depends on what the CEL is- when you were told that it's the cat that needs replacement, was that after somebody scanned the code for you? or were they just guessing?

usually, the trac and the cel come on at the same time due to shift solenoid issues

and how did you "fix" the trac light the first time? turn the car on/off?

The TRAC light will always come on when the CHECk ENGINE light is triggered.
To the OP. Which bank did the code come up with. B1S1, B2S1 or B1S2. V6 or 4cyl?
Just wondering if you changed the right sensor.

you sure about that? I don't think so.

I have a 2000 SLE and I've had the CEL come on many times without the TRAC light coming on, including the CEL coming on with a knock sensor code, a o2/af sensor, and a vsv.

the only time that it comes on is when my shift solenoid CEL comes up (which I haven't gotten around to ficing yet)

^^ Hmmm.
My father in law's Sienna always trips the trac light every time he leaves the gas cap loose.
453 gross leak on the ECM
Trans ecu tells me to check the engine ecu.

Might be just on newer models then.

^ quite possibly

and I can see a certain amount of reasoning to it, but only for codes that would put the car into limp mode or some other effect on power (i.e. 02)

I have a 99 Solara and my Check Engine Lite and Track Off Lite come on at the same time when there is a problem. I keep getting an Evap Code with mine.
