Anybody have this code before?

The check engine light came on for my gf's 99 solara v6. We went to shop to find out what's wrong and it came up with code 171 (Fuel System Lean). When they check further they found a leak in the power brake booster. They said I need to replace that and it'll fix the problem. Anybody have this problem before? Also what's best place to buy oem parts?

i see p0171 codes all the time at work. It indecates that you either have a vacuum leak or your mass air flow (MAF) sensor is bad. Very common problem on the 1mz motors. almost 9 out of 10 times its the MAF, costs somewhere around $150 for the part. but in your case it sounds like it may be a vacuum hose. keep us posted on it

i have to agree with badchicken on the MAF.
need to do an active test and check the fuel trim.
if your booster line had a leak, you'd feel it in the brake pedal.
and the best place to get oem parts is ... your local Toyota Dealership.

The shop where I went to said it's the power brake booster because there is leak. I asked if I can just replaced the vacuum lines but they said I need to replaced the booster itself. I can feel it in the brake pedal so that was the right dignostic. Thanks for your input guys.
