The only difference is that the solara was marketed as 200hp, and the camry at 192, so if there is an actualy difference, is was simply from some mild tuning.
All parts are interchangable between the camry and solara tho, just maybe not some stuff with a vvti (210hp rating) and non vvti
wtf are you trying to do (and what with the comparison with honda series motors). From your little info, I hope you realize it would be very simple if you swap out your head and ecu from an 2000+ Es300 that has a 1mzfe with VVTI! But then again...wtf are you really trying to do...gain more power/torque.....what is the bottom line your trying to reach?
okay here is what i'm trying to do...with a b18 honda block you can put a b16 honda head on and use the b16 ecu and get vtec and make more power than a stock b18...so what i was thinking was using the same concept with the 1mz block and putting a vvti head onand using the ecu to obtain vvti for more power...yeah it's not a great difference but the power potentional may be there. i don't know, i'm new to toyota and i'm using what i know about honda on this solara that i have to work with...so yeah i'm trying to up the horse/torque.
the b18 series of the honda line was deemed the "frankenstien" for a reason, becuase there are sooo man options for you. Most engines are not like that.

I thought you needed Vtec Cams as well to achieve Vtec?
I'm no honda expert.
Try doing that suggestion... use an ES300 and achieve VVTi from there.
VVTI.... for an extra 10 ponies, slap on a CPE intake, and an exhaust..... you will spank many VVTI's out there, by netting more HP, using the same engine you car came with, and no crazy mods, which could lead to further headaches, and about 4 times more $$$ spent.
I thought about that for a minute, and Intake, exhaust.... possible supercharger later on, is a much more obtainable, and realistic way to add HP, in a reliable way.
