Gas mileage

Hey...
I was wondering what most people get for gas mileage with their 4cyl 2.2L Solaras. I have a 2001 and I got 23mpg with in town driving. What are people getting on the highway and what are you getting in town? Would a cold air intake boost performance and gas mileage? Let me know and thank you.

23 for city is really good! on my 2.2 2001, i pretty much use that as my highway commuter, i get 540 miles per fillup. (ie. 29-30 mpg). Which includes having a/c turned to low setting and k&N drop in w/ trd muffler!

Oh yeah this is also in the winter too. I was hoping to get around the same gas mileage as my 1995 camry 2.2L but I guess not. Does anyone think one of those CIA's off ebay will help?

I recently purchased a 2000 Solara w/130K miles on it. I did a tune up on it, and am averaging about 31 miles/gallon. My daily commute is 120 miles highway. Very little city driving.

I have the 2.2L with a/t.

Careful with CAI's from ebay... the diameter on some of them is too large for the MAF to accurately read flow.

Highway use, the Solara gets (i think) very good gas mileage. My recent trip from Rochester NY to Atlanta, only filled up $65-$75 each way - thats it. Very very good on highway.

City wise - ah man... it guzzles as much gas as my mothers SUV. If i drive aggressively, it drinks like its a porche or something.

regarding the CAI. When I was about 16, I bought the CAi off of ebay. Made my engine rattle and shake after three days of having it in. come to find out, the diameter is too big and too much air was going in or not enough pressure. ANY CAI for the 2.2 liter solara, no worky really, unless your boosted.

The Best I've ever had was 23MPG, and that was highway, the worst was city - 19MPG. My average is 20...
