ABS and Steering problems
Hey guys,
I have a '00 Solara i4. Bought it in 02 w/ 36000 miles on it. A few months later I noticed that my ABS doesn't work (Can lock up my wheels). I took it to Toyota and they said that everything works fine, that it's me, who's stepping on the brakes too suddenly... I know that's not the case and ABS is supposed to prevent lockups at any case, especially during hard and sudden braking. There's no light on, guess if the previous owner was dumb enough, could have driven with the light on for 36000 miles and it burned it out. There's no codes on OBD2, not sure if it's supposed to give any. Just wandering if any of you guys have heard of that problem.
On the Steering/Suspension part, a while back I have noticed wobbling at low speeds on lightly rough asphalt. Everything was fine at the freeway speeds. At About 65,000 2 front struts went completely dead, so I canged them with Monroes until I can get a full Kit by Tein or KYB/Tokico w/ Eibach. Since then I've got new wheels with wider tires, didn't get the new suspension kit yet. Now it's 90000 and about 5k ago I've noticed that on a lightly rough roads the car doesn't hold a straight line, it throws the steering wheel from side to side and so does the car. Wobbling is still there. All this happens at 45MPH and below. At 65MPH+, on a cement Highway I can feel the car sverwing a tiny bit from side to side. The steering wheel feels fine at those speeds. My best guess on this is that one(or few) of my bearings have gone bad, but then again, I know just mainly basics about cars and their construction.
Any input provided is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
