Looking to buy Solara

I am new to this forum. My wife wants a new car so we went looking at Solara's. I test drove a V6 Solara and liked the vehicle. My wife likes the Solara too, but the dealer had very few on his lot.

I have DVD navigation in my car and wanted to know if anyone had opinions on the DVD navigation in the Solara. The dealer did not have any Solara's with navigation so I don't know anything about them. I use the navigation alot on my vehicle when i go out of town, but if i get a Solara, I will probably drive it instead because it will get better gas mileage than my car.

I did a google search, a search of this forum and a search of the Toyota site and found little or no information. The brochure i got from the dealership had little information on the Solara navigation and when I asked the salesman, he told me to look into an aftermarket one.

Does anyone have information on this system, touch screen, detail, easy to use, etc.....

2nd Generation

FYI:
The 2007 model (Gen 2.5) will hit the dealer floors tomorrow. Now is the time to jump on that last 2006 (Gen 2.0). I believe Toyota has incentives on the 06 models till 5/31.

From what i read on this forum, this is not much change from the 2006 to 2007, so a 2006 will work for me. How much over the invoice do you think dealers are willing to go on the Solara's. I am in no hurry, have the interior and exterior colors narrowed down to two choices.

just get an aftermarket unit. Eclipse in dash will just works just like the factory one, you can even control it from the steering wheel. (as from what i read from the scion TC forum)

no they just start production of 2007 models at TMMK.

I dunno on the nav system, my grandpa got an 2004 SLE V6 with everything but that, he likes it a lot.

Eclipse actually makes many of the factory units too. They're quite similar in operation.
