Where do you plug in to check the "check engine" light?

I went to Auto Zone, and the guy looks under the steering wheel of my 2000 Solara, but he couldn't find the plug in. Where is it?
I looked in the glove box and the ash tray...
It was about 100 degrees out, so I don't think either he or I felt like looking for it.

ITs the OBD II port its called, its under the dash, on every single car made with it. It is either right under the steering as the other fellow said, or off to the side a little by the console. Its hard to miss if you know what to look for -

According to my owner manual, there are two.
One in the engine compartment and another one in the glove compartment.

I hope it helps.
