Ideas for detailing a 2000 Solara

I am getting the bug to purchase a new car, but really can't afford one, especially when my 2000 Solara is paid off and in perfect, mint conditition.

Are there any suggestions for giving the car a few subtle cosmetic changes or more personality so that it will assuage my bug to buy a new car?

^^ i agree! why waste the money when the car you have now is in mint condition! There is a lot of lil things you can do like dysk8forlife said "endless possibilities" we can help you along with some mods =) I think the best upgrade for my Solara was my HID kit. HID's give the car a different look and they improve your vision on the road =) so thats the plus hehe, rims? suspension? tinting? audio? interior lighting? shaved emblems? just take a look at the other soLara's out there and see what you like. we are always happy to help a fellow soLara owner =) hope this helps!

Im not sure exactly how far into modding you want to get, but some lowering springs with some nice wheels and tires will do a lot for you IMO... your car will be tons more unique than most on the road and you will have handling benefits in addition to cosmetics... that is where I would start

Looking for nicer wheels

Are there any particular stores, dealerships, web sites, that you recommend to start looking at some custom wheels? I do think newer wheels would give my Solara a more distinctive look. I also had the windows tinted and this looks good, too. Seeing that I'm no expert on wheels or details about this car, what are the size of wheels that are presently on the car?

17s are what i have, 18s seem to fit the car best IMO. Check out www.tirerack.com and www.tires.com for wheels and tires. Personally, I would go with lowering springs before rims- otherwise it will look sort of funky.

I was planning to put 18" my Lara come spring don't get the 17"s just go for the big. 19" can fit but i don't think that you will like the ride of the 19"'s so just stick to either 17" or 18" Just stop into any of those rim and tire places you see driving around and go in and get them to give you a quote on price or rubber and rims.

Just my $0.02:
www.zainostore.com
This is the best way to go, hands down, imho, if you want to go the detailing route. I bought a 2002 S2000 in Feb '06 and after a few details, the vehicle actually got appraised to be in excellent condition (from being in clean condition when I bought it), except for one accident on Carfax. I sold it last week.
The products bring unbelievable shine to the vehicle and potential buyers showed considerable reluctance walking away from my S2000 (most of them only did so because they were looking for low baller deals on a convertible in winter).
Most Importantly, detailing and watching the car glow became so addictive for me that I couldn't part with my car even after I got the numbers I was looking for. I had to sell it reluctantly considering my other responsibilities and considering I had already located a decent deal on an 08 SLE Convertible any color I wanted...So, Zaino should really take care of your new car bug...

Cheers!!
