Replacing cornering light on 2002 Toyota Solara

Hi,

Is it possible for a fairly car-knowledgeable person (my boyfriend) to replace this himself? I found the part already here: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/de...QQT104109.html

I just need to take out the old light and replace it. How hard it is to do and what steps does it require? Any idea how much it would cost if I took it to a mechanic, if I bought the part myself? Thank you!

you can definitely do this one yourself! there is one screw on the top of the light and I think thats it... after that it just pulls out. and the new unit slides in. Really easy for sure!

That site that you posted is way too expensive- your cheapest option would be to go with clear corners on ebay:

just search for "solara corner"- they have oem ones there too but theyre actually more expensive.

Let us know how it goes.

This might help:

Step 1:
Take off the front grill, there should be about 3 black bolts that hold that babyboy into place then under the bottom of the V part of the grill there are three clips it sorta clips on to the front bumper. Unhook those and your off **Note** If you are worried about shocking your self Unlock one of the battery terminals and your good to go

Step 2:
Now look on the Head Lamp assembly and there should be two screws from what I remember. Take those off and then the Head Lamp Assem is ready take it out. *Note* If you want to remove it completely you need to disconnect the bulb from the back so just reach around and unplug it .

Step3:
For the side marker, you need to apply pressure on it but not to much and slide it forward and it should just come out. If this is the first time your taking it off it will be a little rough taking it out so don't be scared.

Step4:
Twist out the socket and change the bulb and replace. ***Note** A good when putting in the bulb use a little dielectric grease on the end of the bulb. As well try not to touch the bulb glass it self, wear gloves. Some times the oils from our hands can get on the bulb and it will make a hot spot when turned on and blow the bulb!

Step5:
Re-Assemble Repeat Step 3 - 1

All done Hope this helps! Good Luck!
