Question Could both low beams go out @ same time?

I own a '99 Toyota Solara and it seems that both low beams went out at the same time. Is this possible or could it be the Dimmer Relay? The high beams and fog lights both work along with the balance of the lights on the vehicle. HELP

EB,

While it's possible for both bulbs to go out fairly close to each other (bulb life is measured in hours) it's more likely you've had one low beam bulb out for awhile and only noticed you weren't putting 'any' light on the road when the second bulb went away.

I don't know if the GenI Solara has a separate fuse for the low beam (check your owners manual). If so check the fuse first. If that's good and if you have a continuity tester it's simple to remove a bulb and check it. No continuity? Replace the bulb.

A last ditch way to check a bulb (because it's easy to burn yourself) is to remove it and connect directly to a 12 volt source.

Cheers

Our solaras have DRLs....so bulbs burn out rather fast. It's best to disconnect the DRLs.
fyi, big gray plug right behind the passenger side strut tower.....simply disconnect it and your good to go!
