When the new Venza comes out Toyota will discontinue the Solara line. They will ramp up mostly on convertibles to last the summer/fall. After that, your Solara becomes a collectors item
I'm not surprised that Toyota's dropping the Solara. The company hasn't really ever supported the car. I've never seen or heard a commercial for it and have never seen an ad for it. They've even listed it as a Camray Solara so they can keep the sales numbers of Camrays up. Nevertheless, I will continue to enjoy my '05 coupe. It wouldn't be the first car I've owned that been discontinued. (Simca, 3 Corvairs, Plymouth Sebring. Olsmobile Delta 88, Chevy Bel Aire, Datsun 210, Nissan Sentra hatchback coupe, Ponitac Catalina station wagon, Buick Regal coupe)
Hello people, I have been researching convertibles for a while. I decided that the solara convertible is best, but I just learned that it will soon be discontinued. I am confused! Is that bad? I thought it was good for me because as the buyer i will get a better price due to reduced resail values because its discontinued. But what is the longterm? is it bad because i wont find parts easily? hopefully it will be so reliable that I wont need many parts but what about when its older? I really want the solara but could you guys give me some man advice about whether this is really a wise decision? I am only 23 and I dont have alot of car experience. I was going to trade in my 06 dorkmobile chevy aveo for this convertible at the end of the year. Im not sure my plan is so good. Lots of people should respond to my message so I can get different opinions. I have my heart set on the solara! thanx---jenihoney
oh oh oh and, if anyone has any advice about buying the discontinued solara convertible, please email me at jenicashipley85@aol.com
oh oh and, what is this Venza thats replacing my dream car, is it a convertible? should I buy that instead?
Is buying a dicontinued car a bad thing?why yes or no
Thank you ---jenihoney email me!!! need to know!!!
IMHO, I wouldn't worry about the end of the Solara as far as buying one. I've got an 05 coupe with 66k miles on it. I've had some small problems, but still anticipate being able to put another 66k on it without real trouble. Toyota's going to have parts available for this car for a long time. The mechanical parts are mostly the same as a Camry sedan, so that's no problem. And even the body parts, which hopefully you'll never need, should be there for the next ten years or more. By then who knows what you'll be driving. Enjoy the car. Good luck. Hy
the Tc is close to a solara in price, weight, prefomance, but has alot more aftermarket parts. A convertable Tc could be a cool idea, and good sub for a Solara.
Not really, there is about a $4,000 price difference between the Solara and the tC. The tC is an indirect replacement for the Celica. As long as the tC is around, the Celica will rot in dealerships since it costs more and doesn't perform as well as the tC. Sure the GTS was a blast, but it's $23,000 price tag was a rip off when one can buy a WRX, SRT4, MazdaSpeed3, Civic SI... so many other better options.
Back to the Solara. The Solara has been Toyota's highest quality rated model (not counting Lexus). There are far far fewer complaints than any other model.
It's unfortunate that Toyota didn't drop the 265hp Camry V6 in it, otherwise, I would've bought one.
