Solara convertible seats

Unfortunately, the driver seat of the 2006 Solara convertible that I got new some 18 months ago is the most uncomfortable one I've been in. And I have been driving many years. I have to sit with the top of my back, shoulders and head slumped forward. I suspect that the problem is that the seat does not sit upright enough for me. I have not had such a problem in the much less expensive Mazda sedan I had for 10 years before buying the ragtop, or in Hondas and other makes driven by friends.

Further, when I put the back of the seat down to catch a nap (usually not in the middle of traffic), my head seems to be forced back, hurting my neck. A folded-up towel placed on and below the head restraint solves this problem.

The service manager at the dealer where I bought the car says everything looks normal and no adjustments to the rake of the seat and head restraint are possible. I will be meeting with a Toyota company rep, but I expect him to say the same thing.

Has anyone else had such a problem? Was relief possible? Is it true that the seat cannot be adjusted?

I hope I am posting this in the right place and I apologize for the length. I would greatly appreciate any advice. I am not particularly unusual in body (5'9", 160 lbs), or weird of mind. Just plain old hurting.

MG,

You don't mention which model you have. Checking Toyota's website it appears the SE has manually adjustable seats while the SLE has an electric seat. I can tell you from experience the electric seat can be adjusted to fit virtually anybody on the planet. The manual seat has the same adjustments (8 of them for the seat and backrest which includes seat angle, seat fore/aft position, backrest angle etc) except probably click stops for various positions.

If yours is the manual seat, try sitting in an SLE and see if the seat works better for you. If so it couldn't be difficult to swap seats. You could probably find a set of electrics at an auto salvage yard someplace in the country.

Cheers

I got the SE and standard equipment on it is an electrical powered 8-way adjustable driver seat with lumbar support. Frankly, I think a powered seat is an unnecessary luxury and I would not have one if I had to pay extra for it. However, I got it and it's a pain. Thanks anyway.
