Water Pump Change

What's Up Folks? I Was Wondering, I Am About To Change The Timing Belt On My Car It Has 94,000 Miles On It, And The Question I Have For You All Is Should The Water Pump Be Changed At This Time? I Know It Is Right There, But Would It Be Possible To Wait To The Next Timing Belt Change. I Have Already Changed The Thermostat At 60,000. Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated, Thanks, Corey.

As most of the parts to change the pump are already removed, this is a choice between waiting and perhaps having to dig into the engine again before the next belt change or doing it now. Water pumps typically should last 150K or more. When all the parts are off, check the bearing for roughness and coolant leakage.

Corey,

The answer is a most definite yes. The only difference in cost will be for the pump itself, the labor is minimal since everything is apart already. You're also only 5000 miles (or so) from a scheduled coolant change and if you have a gen II Solara your spark plugs are scheduled to be changed soon too. Just do it all at the same time and you're good to go another 94k miles.

Cheers

Hey Thanks For The Quick Reply, I Will Check Those Things You Had Mentioned.i Have Talked To A Couple Of Toyota Mechanics After I Posted This Thread And What I Got Was Because I Am A Preventive Maintenance Nut Changing All The Fliuds Prematurley Doing All The Right Things, They Said I Should Be Fine Until Next T.b. Change. They Also Said The Reason Why Water Pumps Go Bad Is Because People Wait To Long To Change Their Coolant Fluid, and The Reason This Is So Important Is Beacause The Coolant Has A Conditioner In It To Keep The Seal In The Water Pump Conditioned.tanks For All Your Help, Your Toyota Bretheren, corey
