Washer Fluid Warning Light Won't Go Out

When I bought the car (less than a week ago) the warning light for the windshield washer fluid has been on. It still squirted fluid so I thought that it must be close to empty. I eventually bought a bottle and found out that the reservoir was pretty close to being topped off. I never really considered the possibility that the light might be on all the time. Does anyone have any idea why it won't got out? For what it's worth, the nozzles emit the washer fluid with a lot less force than I'd prefer. Perhaps this has something to do with the light being on? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Just a thought, there should be a wire connected to a sensor on the reservoir. Is it connected?

Low flow through the nozzles can be caused by owners using tap water in the system. Calcium in that water clogs the nozzles. You can probably clear them by sticking a pin in the opening.

Cheers
