Strut advice for a 99 solara

I just got a 99 solara that has a nasty rattle / knock coming from the upper right side strut tower when driving over any kind of bump. The car also tends to jump to the right rear when going over any kind of rough road. Checked all the bushings including the sub frame mounts and with the exception of the sway bar bushings they were good. I changed out the sway bar bushings but no change. So the struts are next. I do not want to change the ride quality. I am down to two choices, KYB and Monroe. Which will be the better riding strut? I intend to replace the strut mounts and insulators while I am in there.

This is my first Toyota as I always driven Nissans. I did change the T-belt, including the idler bearings. water pump. crank and cam seals. (I have to admit the rear cam seal is a bit of a pain to get to but I have done tougher ones)

Thanks in advance for any recomendations.

Max,

I can't help you make a choice between the two but you might benefit from reading this thread: http://www.solaraguy.com/viewtopic.p...t=monroe+mount

BTW if your Solara had enough mileage to change the timing belt then presumably you're riding on shocks that have somewhere around 100,000 miles on them (give or take) so whatever you choose, even stock Toyota replacements, it's going to change your ride quality. It'll be firmer for sure.

Cheers
