Exhaust System Issue

I went to Midas today to see why the engine was so loud. I assumed that the muffler was messed up, but I found out the catalytic converter has a hole in it. His estimate was about $1000. I was thinking of buying a new exhaust system altogether. I'm not too good with car stuff, so I was wondering how much will it cost and does anybody know a good system to install?

thanks.

LOL, 1K to replace the catalytic, he must have been on crack. If it is indeed only the catalytic converter that has a hole in it, you can replace that for around $200. Or you can replace the whole exhaust with an upgraded system for probably a little over $500 new. what gen solara do you have, 1, 1.5 or 2?

Kragen's got a CA spec for $250ish. Just be careful if u get a universal, cuz some don't come with proper flanges.

yeah the greddy doesn't look like it will work out with a 2002 4 cyl Solara. I found this, however,
http://www.car-stuff.com/carparts/to...299264089.html

I think it's a 1 or 1.5 gen. I'm eventually gonna change the exhaust on it. infact, i just need a straight pipe for this car lol. i can't do anything with it.

thanks for the info.
